HOW DID YOU GET STARTED AS A STYLIST?
My mom is incredibly stylish and she grew up in Chile making a lot of her own clothes. Everything I know about fashion edicts comes from her, and I’ve always been so fascinated by the innately and intimately artistic process of dressing oneself. (It ended up backfiring on my poor mom when I decided at a very young age I wouldn’t leave the house unless my socks matched my underwear). I started out helping musician friends dress for shows or photo shoots, then I got a job as the Style Editor for City Arts Magazine, and off I went!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT BEING A STYLIST?
Making a woman feel confident and wholly herself in her clothes.
How Would you describe your style in three words?
Changeable, vintage-inspired, and cumulative--I’m still wearing clothes I had in high school!
which Item would you love to splurge on?
That’s an easy one--classic Ferragamo flats in black.
what outfit do you feel the most "you" in?
My favorite piece by far is my Sombrero Espanola; it’s the hat you see on Penelope Cruz in All the Pretty Horses, and is the classic, folkloric Spanish and Chilean hat. It makes every outfit look a bit artsier and edgier when I pop it on.
What is your favorite armoire brand?
IRO kills it with each piece they produce.
Which fashion show would you want to sit front row in?
Chanel Resort Collection. I love all the light-hearted pageantry of this smaller collection each year.
what trends are you obsessed with right now?
I am loving the pattern clashing that is going on right now. Also the color marigold is huge and it’s so much warmer and more universally flattering than the standard autumn mustard, which is a tough tone of yellow on a LOT of skin tones.
heels or sneakers?
Heels, no question.
Elsa Schiaparelli. She is everything!
What Makes Her Happy
cookies or cake?
Ooh, cookies--especially the Oddfellow cookie because it has a little bit of everything in it, and the staff there is just wonderfully kind and lively.
coffee or tea?
Coffee with almond milk and raw sugar. Half a cup only or I get way too amped up!
what are you listening to these days?
Led Zeppelin, Jeremih, Action Bronson, Erik Satie, Portugal the Man, Domo Genesis, and Snoop--at least a couple cuts every day.
